It would be very nice if the OPERATOR argument to LIMIT could accept/pass through other operators, such as RLIKE, SOUNDEX, or even stored procedures that one might wish to use e.g; for fuzzy matching.

Hello Jerrad, RLIKE can be passed using OPERATOR argument. SOUNDEX is a function and you can use QUOTEVALUE argument to turn off qouting on the right side or SOUNDS LIKE OPERATOR. I think situation with functions and so procedures on the left hand side of a limit can be improved, but at this moment we don't have plans to implement it. Patches are welcome.
