I can't duplicate this error. I tried it using perl 5.6.0 and Tk800.023 on Solaris (SunOS 5.7) machine, and using perl 5.6.1 and Tk800.023 on Windows 2000. Here is what i am doing. Running the SpreadsheetHideRows demo: 1) Expand 'Quarter 2' line by pressing the '+' 2) Expand the 'May' line by pressing the '+'. 2) Collapse the 'Quarter 2' line by pressing the '-'. Everything works as expected, with no errors. Is the above process what you are doing? What version of Tk are you using?
