Subject: Error::Subclasses has no version and no CPAN recognition
I built, tested, and installed Error::Subclasses with no difficulty from sources---both the Build and Makefile methods work fine. However, as par as CPAN seems able to tell, Error::Subclasses does not exist (I ran 'install Error::Subclasses' and got the "don't know what it is"---which should of course read "do not know..." according to the Perl Gods own pronouncements...). I ran 'install Error::SystemException' and that got a result, "Error::SystemException is up to date (undef).", which is still no help from a versioning standpoint. Anyway, it seems like either the name of the module changed mostly, or there is a problem in how CPAN sees the module, or maybe a bit of both (I note the RT lists the module as Error::Subclasses). I can send along all my perl info if it matters (doesn't seem likely in this case, at least to me). Kristin
Hi, sorry for not replying sooner, I've only just seen this message - perhaps the original notification got lost somewhere? Anyway... This may be an artefact of the mismatch between the distribution name and the fact there's no module of that name in it. In any event, the whole "Error" framework is somewhat old, deprecated, and probably best taken out and replaced with something better. I shall probably be removing Error::Subclasses off CPAN, and as co-maint. of Error, we may end up outright deprecating that itself in favour of one of the newer setups. On that note, see also Exception::Class TryCatch TryCatch::Tiny Hope that helps, -- Paul Evans
