Subject: =item # should imply item-number
Just as =item * in an unbranded =over equates to =item-bullet and thusly a ul list, =item # should mean =item-number and ol. I've poked around in Blackbox a bit to try to figure out how, and supply a patch, but it's hairy in there.

I don't see this syntax documented in `perldoc perlpod`. Am I just missing it?

No, I believe it was an oversight on Larry's part ;-) If I recall correctly I've also brought this up on pod-people in the past. (Would have been as belg4mit@mit.edu then) -- Free map of local environmental resources: http://CambridgeMA.GreenMap.org -- MOTD on Prickle-Prickle, the 7th of The Aftermath, in the YOLD 3175: If you're going to carry around a pack of something better it should be gum or playing cards than cancer sticks. --JP

Thanks, but Pod::Simple implements the spec, it doesn't define the spec. You might want to talk to the Perl 6 team to see if you can get your feature in there. (Perl 5 Pod won't change much.) Allison
