Subject: Can't call method "link" on an undefined value
Date: Tue, 17 Jun 2008 11:33:33 +0200
To: bug-OpenOffice-OODoc [...] rt.cpan.org
From: "Olivier Delhomme" <olivierdelhomme [...] gmail.com>
Hello, I downloaded the latest package for OpenOffice::OODoc (2.103) and Archive::Zip and XML::Twig whom were missing and I tried the example given here (http://search.cpan.org/~jmgdoc/OpenOffice-OODoc-2.103/OODoc.pod). The script crashes with the error message : ./essai.pl [OpenOffice::OODoc::File::new] File filename.odt unavailable Can't call method "link" on an undefined value at /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.8/OpenOffice/OODoc/XPath.pm line 462. I have perl 5.8.8 on Centos 5. Please could youi give me some advises in order that I can fix this. Thanks for your time, Olivier DELHOMME.
Hello, The example in OODoc.pod is just an example, and of course it must be adapted to each one's particular context. It perfectly work as soon as the script runs with an existing file whose name is "MyFile.odt" and which contains at least a paragraph including "my search string". According to the error message, the script has just been tested while the target ODT file doesn't exist. I suggest you to create this file using OOo, to type some arbitrary text incuding a paragraph containing *exactly* "my search string", save it *exactly* as "MyFile.odt", then run the script exactly as it is in the documentation from the same directory as the ODT file. Thanks for replying. I saw that in a spanish forum thread. You should add this explanation to some FAQ or help (I wasn't able to find some english or french related answer). Thanks again, Regards, Olivier Delhomme Show quoted text
