Yes, it would be; You can either do that yourself
with an alarm call, or we could hide that away in
the interface.
The only downside would be that alarm() doesn't work
on Win32, so there it'd be a no-op at best.
I've cc'd the bug tracking email address, so that this
feature request is in the tracker.
