Hi, we have a bug report in the Debian Bug Tracker, originally reported against XML::XPath but still present in XML::XPathEngine: http://bugs.debian.org/460281 Summary: "evaluating the 'preceding-sibling::important' condition loses the position/context information." The bug report contains a patch and a testcase; please consider applying it.
