Subject: Crypt-SSLeay 0.57 test question
Date: Sun, 23 Mar 2008 15:28:22 +0100
To: bug-Crypt-SSLeay [...] rt.cpan.org
From: Noèl Köthe <noel [...] debian.org>
Hello, packaging Crypt-SSLeay 0.57 for Debian now has a problem because it asks always if the live test should be done. Package building has to run without user interaction. Could you add a switch to get this question be answered by a command line? Thank you. -- Noèl Köthe <noel@debian.org> Debian GNU/Linux, www.debian.org

Hello Noèl, as per the README, you should be able to set the following environment variable: PERL_MM_USE_DEFAULT=1 and then no questions will be asked. Is this not possible for you, or have you done this and it still doesn't work? Show quoted text

This is one of the most frequently asked questions regarding the package, so yes, I'll probably put something into 0.58 if people insist on wanting to do it this way. Let me know if the env var approach works, Thanks, David

I am working on cleaning up the RT queue for Crypt-SSLeay. When examining this ticket, I noticed that the request to add a command line option was implemented in Crypt-SSLeay-0.57_01. You can now specify --live-tests or --no-live-tests on the command line to run the tests or skip them, respectively. I would appreciate it if you can give it a whirl. I would like to close this ticket as resolved soon. -- Sinan
Command line option to specify whether live tests should be run was added to Makefile.PL in development version 0.57_01. -- Sinan
