Subject: Decreasing version number
0.14 is less than 0.9 according to ordinary floating point math. Perl has always used ordinary floating point math for version numbers. So a release of 0.14 after there has already been a 0.9 seems off the track and confuses not only perl but many other tools. Thanks,
Yes, this happened back in 2004 when I went from 0.9 to 0.10. Problem is that I did not want to release a 1.0 version since the specification on which this module is based is not yet designated 1.0 but is still being updated every once in a while. Since I already released 0.10 - 0.14 I don't think it makes sense to jump to 1.x now. Version 0.9 and older have been deleted from CPAN a long time ago, so I would assume this does not cause new problems. I agree I should have started out with 0.01 instead of 0.1 way back, but I don't see much gain changing it now. Therefore I propose to reject this ticket.

I do not want to argue with you about it. I just wonder why you never thought about taking 0.90000001, 0.90000002 etc. Isn't there infinite room between 0.9 and 1.0? Show quoted text

As I said, I won't argue any longer. But if you look at the page that I pointed to in the other ticket, doesn't it hurt in the eyes? Rest assured, this is my last word on the matter. Reject what needs rejecting, no problem. -- andreas
