Subject: wish: include Perl version in subject lines
The testing e-mails I get as an author currently have subject lines like this: FAIL SQL-Interp-1.06 i386-freebsd 6.1-release That makes it appear that this module version is failing because it is running on this platform. A lot of times the reason is because an older Perl version is being used (5.5 or 5.6). I think it would be use useful to also include this basic information in the subject line as well. Of course, the failure could still be caused by something more subtle than than the platform of Perl version, but this basic detail seems worth highlighting. Thanks! Mark

I agree entirely. Unfortunately, many of the CPAN Testers tools parse information from the subject line and will break if it changes. Barbie, Adam Foxson and I have discussed it and the medium term goal is instead to move to submission of reports via HTTP. If this ever changes, it will need to do so in Test::Reporter, and CPAN::Reporter will send whatever subjects are generated by Test::Reporter. On that basis, I'm going to move this to the Test-Reporter queue. David
Despite the merits of this wishlist item, there are no plans to address it in the current CPAN Testers architecture. As reporting migrates to centralized reporting platforms, such information will be provided through other means. -- David
