Subject: WWW::Yahoo::Groups enhanced to allow Upload to Files area of groups?
To: Iain Truskett <spoon [...] cpan.org>
Hi Iain, In response to the August 7th Yahoo groups announcement of the purging of attachments from message archives, I crashed around the web trying to find a utility that can upload files to the Files area of a group (command line based or scripted/automated preferably). I found your Perl library which allows reading of messages from a group! I was wondering if you had any intention of enhancing your utility to allow uploading (and downloading) of files in the Files section of a group? If so, it would be very useful... As it is now: Simply post an email with an attachment, and users of Yahoo's web interface can then download (from the message archive). As it could be: Simply use a script to Upload a file, then post a message containing a link to that file AND attach the file to the message, Users who receive the email can detach the message as per usual. Users of Yahoo's web interface can download the file using the link (the attachment will be stripped from the Yahoo web interface). We don't want to use the existing Yahoo file upload "Notification" feature, because that will not allow discussion of the attachment in the same email as the attachment, and because we would prefer to send a link and an attachment IN THE SAME EMAIL. If you can help, that would be great! Thanks, Mark PS: I've also been shown: http://www.lpthe.jussieu.fr/~zeitlin/yahoo2mbox.html http://personals.yahoo.com.au - Yahoo! I guess so. It's another part of Yahoo Groups so it makes sense to let users access it =) Show quoted text

Well, I'll take a look at it and see what can be done. I'll probably have something to show after the weekend. I've got some other things to do and this sounds like good procrastination material. Probably should add some of the other features too. Show quoted text
Hmm. I missed that. Looks like it has some features my module needs. Thanks! cheers, -- Iain.
