Subject: | Disabling CPAN::Shell Messages ($CPAN::Be_Slient?) |
Dear Andreas J. König,
Hi. This is imacat from Taiwan. I wish there could be a way to
disable the following message:
CPAN: Storable loaded ok (v2.16)
Going to read /root/.cpan/Metadata
Database was generated on Wed, 07 Nov 2007 03:36:46 GMT
I am writing a periodical module update checker and reporter for my
own installation, which generates a customized report. This above
message is always sent to the cron daemon even if everything is
up-to-date, and generates a lots of cron job message mails. I wonder if
there is a way to avoid that.
Peeping into the code I found that in
CPAN::Shell::print_ornamented() there is a variable $CPAN::Be_Silent
that can disable the output. However, $CPAN::Be_Silent does not look
like a public variable, and I cannot find any public way to manipulate
it. I wonder if there could be a way to manipulate $CPAN::Be_Silent or
so forth so that users of CPAN can disable the CPAN::Shell messages. It
would help a lot if this can be done.
Please tell me if you need any more information, or if I could be of
help. Thank you.
