Subject: give 4/2 channel images a background color when saving to JPEG

Currently saving a 2 or 4 channel image as a JPEG causes an error. This is more annoying than useful. Instead, if a 2/4 channel image is provided, overlay it over a given background color, either from a tag (copied from an argument in ->write*()) or from a default value.
