Subject: "couldn't find a hints file" error seems like a step backwards
Curses 1.15 has been working very well for me but 1.16 complains: I'm sorry, but I couldn't find a hints file that was configured for your OS (named hints/c-linux.h). You will need to create and configure a "c-config.h" file for yourself. Please see the "INSTALL" directions for pointers on how to do this. Is there a reason for giving up on automatic configuration? I have tried to read the INSTALL file but could not find a hint about the reason for this step backwards. Thanks,
Works for me. Please email me, bryanh@giraffe-data.com if you can work on this further. Can you gather some relevant variable values from Makefile.PL? I'm especially interested in what $libType value comes back from guessAtCursesLocation(). I can send you an instrumented version of Makefile.PL if you prefer.
Fixed in 1.17.
