Subject: don't know how to install in non-standard location

Hi. I'm trying to install PDL on my local machine, but I -don't- have root access, and want to point the installer to a location where I have write permissions. With an installation procedure beginning with "./configure", I can just use the "--prefix=" option to specify my new target directory. But I don't know what to do with PDL & perldl.conf. It seems to have options for where to find other packages, but not where to put itself. I'm using version 2.4.3, but I suspect this isn't relevant. Show quoted text

See the README, INSTALL,... files in the PDL source distribution for info. The perldl mailing list with archives is a good place to start. Do "perldoc perlfaq8<CR>" at the command line to get started on maintaining a private module dir. perlfaq8: System Interaction o How do I keep my own module/library directory? See http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=browse&group_id=612&atid=100612 and PDL sourceforge bug #1994624 for follow up and resolution.
The PDL FAQ has been updated with some install from the standard perl references on the use of a local module installation. This is not a PDL bug specifically.
