This only seems to be a problem for libgif/ungif, since the packages for these don't contain the .so links. Other libraries are found correctly by Makefile.PL Creating a simple .c and building with -lungif or -lgif fails to link those libraries. I need to create a test case and pass it onto CentOS.

No longer appears to be a problem - builds and run tests successfully on Centos 64-bit
