Subject: Aggressive cleaning in update
Either the documentation should state that the local repository can not live under CPAN, or the update routine should not clean anything except authors/ and modules/. As it is now, I can find no mention of this restriction in the docs, and the result is that every update wiped every local module.

This behavior comes from CPAN::Mini. Use the skip_cleanup if you don't want to remove anything (although this feature was added after your bug report, I think).
