Subject: DBD-Oracle possible bug in tns setup
Date: Thu, 19 Apr 2007 14:13:08 -0400
To: <Bug-DBD-Oracle [...] rt.cpan.org>
From: Randy Pelletier <rpelletier [...] bottomline.com>
Hi, I've just rolled out a new perl for oracle on solaris 10. This DBD installation appears to be using /var/opt/oracle/oratab as some sort of definitive instance name list, which by no means is it, not even for local instances. When moving the oratab file out of the way it completely fails to find tnsnames.ora or any entries therein. I haven't attempted any modification yet but thought I should drop a line before I do. Regards, Randy Pelletier
Give TNS_NAMES='path to your TNS names' a try this seems to be the never fail way to do it. Not really a DBD::Oracle issuse more an ORacle issue me thinks.
