Jifty version 0.70117-1 as packaged for debian seems to require Params::Util but doesn't list it as a dependency and thus it hasn't been installed: jarich@bella:~/jifty$ jifty app --name test Can't locate Params/Util.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /etc/perl /usr/local/lib/perl/5.8.7 /usr/local/share/perl/5.8.7 /usr/lib/perl5 /usr/share/perl5 /usr/lib/perl/5.8 /usr/share/perl/5.8 /usr/local/lib/site_perl .) at /usr/share/perl5/File/ShareDir.pm line 110.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ This is not a problem with Jifty, Jifty does not use Params::Util. It does use File::ShareDir which uses Params::Util. File::ShareDir does properly declare its dependency on Params::Util. http://search.cpan.org/src/ADAMK/File-ShareDir-0.05/META.yml Somehow you managed to lose your installation of Params::Util.

That's very odd. I had a very vanilla install of Perl on that machine (Ubuntu Dapper, no external models added) and just did an apt-get install jifty as suggested after adding the debian sources.
