Subject: CGI-Application-Plugin-Authentication-0.12 Tar file format
Date: Wed, 29 Nov 2006 12:46:19 -0800 (PST)
To: bug-CGI-Application-Plugin-Authentication [...] rt.cpan.org
From: "Brian T. Wightman" <brian [...] wightmanfam.org>
HP-UX 11.0 CGI-Application-Plugin-Authentication-0.12.tar.gz Tar file appears to use a new-GNUish tar format for path names longer than 100 characters. HP-UX 11.0 is not able to read this file with tar or pax. Fix: Unsure (don't have GNU system available to me right now), but tar command for packaging probably needs to force old-style archive (tar) format. Contact me on pm (MidLifeXis) if you have questions. Thanks, Brian
This is also a problem with SunOS 5.10 tar.
Still a problem with 0.14, also a problem on FreeBSD and OpenBSD system tar and pax. Rebuilding the archive with standard tar works.
I have same problem on Windows using Archive::Tar. -- Alexandr Ciornii, http://chorny.net

Alexandr, Brian, Alex, I have built and uploaded a 0.15 version intended to fix this issue. Please verify if this resolves the issue.
I can see no evidence that this has not been fixed in 0.15.
