Here are a couple of small patches for ack.
The first provides a "--java" option.
The second prevents ack from descending by default into directories
that are symlinks. An "-L" flag ("follow symlinks") restores the
original behavior. Even if you agree that this change is desirable,
you'll probably want to implement it in your own way -- the patch
is just intended as a starting point. Even with the patch, ack
will still follow symlinks that point to files (as opposed to
directories.) I'm not sure if this is inconsistent, but it works
for me.
