James,
I'm aware that zillions of people are having a problem
using Net::Ping with ActiveState perl, but I'm not sure
what to do about it. I can do "make ppd" under linux
just fine. I believe that "make test" fails under the
ActiveState perl, but I do not have a "make" utility to
even test it. I've put a lot of special clauses within
the Net::Ping code to handle win32 platform, but I just
don't know how to test it or fix it. Any ideas what is
breaking?
I think Net::Ping 2.02 installs fine under win32.
Rob

Subject: [Net-Ping error] Not intended for this build of Perl
Hi Rob,
I am trying to install net::ping under Windows NT 4 and PPM3 with Active
Perl (version 5.6.1).
Unfortunately, I receive the following error message:
*********************************************************
PPM> install net-ping
Install package 'net-ping?' (y/N): y
Installing package 'net-ping'...
***Error***
Error installing package 'net-ping': Read a PPD for 'net-ping', but it is
not intended for this build of Perl (MSWin32-x86-multi-thread)
*********************************************************
Could you recommend another version of Net::Ping which I could install
please? (or another method of pinging remote hosts under perl?)
If you are very busy, would you mind letting me know whether there is a
net::ping forum where I could post this question instead?
Many thanks,
James.
