Attached is a Perl distro for a test program. Install, and run supplied treepad.pl using the supplied test file env.xml. Perl: 5.8.7. OS: Windows.

I had a similar problem. The workaround suggested at http://www.cpanforum.com/threads/5980 fixed it.
