Now fixed in XML-Encoding-2.01. I reproduced this crash in XML-Encoding-2.00 on Windows using perl-5.6.2 and XML-Parser-2.34 (linked against on expat-2.0.1). Re-testing with the same versions and configurations of everything except for changing perl to perl-5.8.0 fixed the crash. The crash was somehow induced by the eval {} call at the end of the test script, which I guess must have been tickling a bug in perl-5.6.x that has long since been fixed in perl-5.8.x onwards. The new version simply avoids this crash by using a $SIG{__DIE__} to catch the (intended) error rather than an eval {}. The following two CPAN Testers reports demonstrate that the bug is now fixed: http://www.nntp.perl.org/group/perl.cpan.testers/2007/07/msg541598.html http://www.nntp.perl.org/group/perl.cpan.testers/2007/07/msg546763.html
