Subject: POE fails testing on gentoo
Distribution: Gentoo from stage1 as of 20th Jan 2003 Perl: This is perl, v5.8.0 built for i686-linux OS: Linux p405u.localdomain 2.4.19-gentoo-r10 #2 Mon Jan 20 17:50:15 GMT 2003 i686 Pentium III (Coppermine) GenuineIntel GNU/Linux Kernel: gentoo-sources version linux-2.4.19-gentoo-r10/ Environment: Nothing notably special. I installed many Perl modules including Image::Magick, Tk, etc fine. I installed all the dependencies including optional dependencies. I have ipv6 support and devfs. POE fails most tests: root@p405u /tmp/.cpan-root/build/POE-0.24$ make testreport /usr/bin/perl lib/testreport.pl t/001_queue...........ok t/00_coverage.........FAILED t/01_sessions.........FAILED t/02_alarms...........FAILED t/03_aliases..........FAILED t/04_selects..........FAILED t/05_macros...........ok t/06_tk............... *** *** Please note: This test will pop up a window or two. *** t/06_tk...............FAILED t/07_event............ok t/08_errors...........FAILED t/09_wheels_unix......FAILED t/10_wheels_tcp.......FAILED t/11_signals_poe...... *** etc The Tk windows pop up OK. Tk tested fine. t/22_wheel_run........ This test hangs and I have to abort testreport. I remoted the test to make a report.

It seems none of the developers have a gentoo box to test this. We'd like to get a bit more information from you. If you could run 'make reportupload' within the distribution, we would be most grateful. Thanks. -- Casey West
One other thing, the tests can be run independently. Couls you run the offending test (number 22) manually and send us any errors you might get on STDERR from running it? Thanks. -- Casey West
