All that ppm says is, "Error: Package 'Carp' not found. Please
'search' for
it first."
I get the same type of error for Exporter if I remove the dependency for
Carp from the POE-0.32.ppd.
I have tried letting ppm install the POE package from ActiveState
(removed
the local path to your .ppd from the rep). It works fine, installing
0.29.
When I run upgrade, ppm tells me that there is a newer version 0.3201.
However when I run "upgrade -install POE" ppm seems to do a
reinstallation
of 0.29.
I have downloaded POE-0.3202.ppd and found that I get the same
error. This
occurs here at work where I am behind a firewall and at home with the
firewall disabled. I have set the correct environment variables so
that the
work PC can get through the firewall and other packages load fine.
Long ago I believe there was a single package called "Carp". Now
there are
several packages called "Carp-xxx" and they are not all located at
the same
repository. Carp as a single package does not seem to exist any longer.
When a ppd does a dependency for "Carp" which package will satisfy
it? Is
it just looking for a Carp directory? If so does it look in perl/
site/lib
or perl/lib?
