Subject: same authors, same year, different author order - does not attach "a" and "b" to year.
In my bibtex file I have two entries (one's an "@article" and the other an "@conference") by the same authors in the same year, but the second, third and fourth author names appear in a different order e.g. @article{smith_etal2006a, author={Smith, D. and Jones, E. and Bill, H. and Ben, P.}, title={blah blah}, journal={blah blah}, volume={xx}, year={2006}, } @conference{smith_etal2006b, author={Smith, D. and Ben, P. and Jones, E. and Bill, H.}, title={blah blah}, booktitle={blah blah}, year={2006}, } When I compile the above using Chicago style (I'm using miktex in windows, fully updated) an "a" or "b" is not attached to the year field. This is a problem since both articles are cited as "Smith et al. (2006)" in the text and therefore cannot be differentiated.
This seems a style/MikTeX problem, not a Text::BibTeX one. If I am wrong, please submit it again with some more detail. By the way, conference is not supported at the moment (0.36). It will be added in 0.37. Cheers Alberto
