Subject: File Permissions in Win32-Filenames-0.01
Untarring of the distribution file on UNIX gives broken permissions. To chdir int a directory the user need the "x" bit set but it is not set: % tar xvzf /home/ftp/pub/CPAN/authors/id/B/BC/BCH/Win32-Filenames-0.01.tar.gz Win32-Filenames-0.01/ Win32-Filenames-0.01/Changes Win32-Filenames-0.01/lib/ Win32-Filenames-0.01/lib/Win32/ Win32-Filenames-0.01/lib/Win32/Filenames.pm Win32-Filenames-0.01/Makefile.PL Win32-Filenames-0.01/MANIFEST Win32-Filenames-0.01/META.yml Win32-Filenames-0.01/README Win32-Filenames-0.01/t/ Win32-Filenames-0.01/t/00-load.t Win32-Filenames-0.01/t/01-validate.t Win32-Filenames-0.01/t/02-sanitize.t % ls -l total 4 drw-rw-r-- 4 k k 4096 Jul 22 06:15 Win32-Filenames-0.01/ Could this be a bug of the tool that produced he tarball?
I suppose you should use "make dist" (or "nmake dist") to create the distribution, rather than tar and gzip manually. If this is already the case, I would like to know, too, the make or nmake you used to create the distribution.
Dear Brent Hostetler, I would suggest you upgrade your tar.exe. Mime is version 1.12, which does things nicely.
