Subject: target=>file
target=>file should mean the target is the file, if you want to play with signatures it's not too much to load a frozen signature yourself. on the other hand having users expecting DWIM be forced to interact with Perl::Signature::Set is cruel.

It also doesn't seem to work when doing it manually (for an individual file at least). in testing I had to revert to two directories

I'm not entirely sure what you are asking for here. Could you restart this with some code examples? Thanks.
