Since we're breaking just about every internal thing in Kernel and the
event loops, we have a nice opportunity to make the names of internal
things more consistent. I've started this by following a loose style
for the accessor libraries (_data_foo_bar). I get the impression,
though, that things aren't as consistent as they could be.
