AnnotCPAN problems with outdated notes - administrative control

There needs to be a mechanism in AnnoCPAN to allow the author of a module to hide irrelevant notes, or at least to easily contact the author of the note. For example, someone left a note in an old version of CGI::Ajax, which was subsequently fixed, but every version since still has the same (now irrelevant) note showing.

For now, I've hidden that note for the version where it is not relevant. Please let me know if there are others. Hiding other people's notes currently requires administrative privileges, which only I have, but I'm looking into delegating some of that power in the future. :) Another pending feature that will be helpful for this is http://rt.cpan.org/NoAuth/Bug.html?id=13612 .

Another problem is that after a new version is out, the old note you hid for me in answer to my initial request is now back... and even more irrelevant in the latest version. I understand you want annocpan to be a useful place for programmers to add comments, but I want to reemphasize that the author of a particular perl module should have *some* administrative access to the notes. Additionally, it would be good to have a "email link" on the top line of every note, so someone could easily email the author of the note. One problem is that providing an email is not mandatory (although most users do provide it). I've given people the option of displaying their email (obfuscated or not) if they want, but I think very few have done it. I plan to add a form for sending email to a user. Hi Another mechanism might be comment moderation through a scoring system of some type, perhaps like Slashdot's mod-ing system. If you could add a bit at the top of each note on annocpan to track "was this note useful?, Y/N", then tally the notes and give them a score, then if someone puts up silly information it will get modded down, etc. Just a thought, BCT [ITUB - Sat Dec 3 21:46:48 2005]: Show quoted text
