Subject: Adding a getline to behave like a FileHandle
Distribution: Compress-Zlib-1.34 perv -v: This is perl, v5.8.7 built for i486-linux-gnu-thread-multi uname -a: Linux thorr 2.6.12+thorr.2 #1 Thu Jul 28 17:01:21 CEST 2005 i686 GNU/Linux Is it possible to have a getline methode ? I defined this one in my personal package to handle gzip object like fileHandle with a $obj->getline sub Compress::Zlib::getline { my ($self, $line) = shift; $self->gzreadline($line) ? return $line : return ''; } Thanks.

I recently posted a beta of Compress::Zlib version 2 onto CPAN. This includes a new interface for manipulating gzip files (IO::Gzip to write gzip files/buffers and IO::Gunzip to read gzip files/buffers) that includes the getline method. Paul

I find on the CPAN the PerlIO::gzip (http://search.cpan.org/~nwclark/PerlIO-gzip-0.17/gzip.pm)

Marking this as resolved -- the beta of Compress::Zlib 2.x on CPAN has readline functionality built-in. Paul
