In the document TODO to "Strengthen the Digest Algorithm", you may want to consider what is used for Object::Signature::Portable https://metacpan.org/pod/Object::Signature::Portable. If there is a single parameter, assume the defaults. Otherwise assume it is a hash with options to control the digest, format, prefix and possibly the serializer.
