Subject: re::engine::RE2 needed?
re::engine::RE2 is a problematic dependency --- there are no pass reports since perl 5.23.4, see http://matrix.cpantesters.org/?dist=re-engine-RE2+0.13 However, it seems that re::engine::RE2 is not used at all in the distribution. Maybe it simply can be removed as a dependency?

Works fine when linked against system shared libre2 library in Debian: https://buildd.debian.org/status/logs.php?pkg=libre-engine-re2-perl Debian (and as I recall other distributions as well) carry patches for several bugreports, including https://rt.cpan.org/Public/Bug/Display.html?id=108357 and https://rt.cpan.org/Public/Bug/Display.html?id=129585 Show quoted text

OK. I was grepping for occurrence of the string "re::engine::RE2" in the distribution, and did not found anything, so it was my impression that the module was not used. But now I found the occurrence in Regexp::Pattern::License. I'll reject the ticket then.

(Though from a compatibility aspect it would be better to make re::engine::RE2 an optional dependency, so users of other distributions/operating systems may also use this module/script).
