On some of my smoker systems the test suite fails like this:
...
Out of memory!
t/00-load.t .......
No subtests run
Out of memory!
t/01-test.t .......
No subtests run
Out of memory!
t/02-page.t .......
No subtests run
...
Additionally, the test scripts are terminated with a SIGSEGV, but this is possibly just a consequence of the Out of memory condition.
