This is still the issue with newer versions, e.g. v5.23.2

See RT#119936, there's a conflict between URPM && urpmi I've workarounded it by manually adding a provide, which means that indexing is OK for URPM::Resolve cpan[1]> m URPM::Resolve Reading '/home/tv/.local/share/.cpan/Metadata' Database was generated on Thu, 02 Jan 2020 14:41:03 GMT Module id = URPM::Resolve CPAN_USERID TVIGNAUD (Thierry Vignaud <CENSORED>) CPAN_VERSION undef CPAN_FILE T/TV/TVIGNAUD/URPM-v5.23.2.tar.gz UPLOAD_DATE 2019-12-30 MANPAGE URPM::Resolve - Resolve routines for URPM/urpmi INST_FILE /usr/lib64/perl5/vendor_perl/URPM/Resolve.pm INST_VERSION undef
I could try to workaround that by altering urpmi: 1) to provide urpm.pm with version=0 2) to provide urpmi 3) deleting older version of urpmi from CPAN And fixing version for URPM
Fixed in latest URPM & urpmi
