because the tie interface breaks on me. Have you tried using the object-oriented interface? If that doesn't work, please submit a bug report.

I didn't investigate further, but recently I had to install/update Tie::Sub and then got an error message about missing the FIRSTKEY method. But this only happens on my laptop and just now I tried on my PC and it's okay. Anyway, I thought the lower-level interface is the most stable one?
