I have some SMTP servers which don’t advertise AUTH in the EHLO response (on purpose) and Net::SMTP can’t handle this and it throws an error because it assumes that AUTH isn’t supported. I can connect to the same servers via telnet and AUTH LOGIN without problem even when not advertised.
