Hi there,
I have come across an xlsx file which does open in Excel but not in my copy of ooffice
(LibreOffice 4.1.6.2)
I have no idea how the file was generated (I assume some database export tool)
It uses XML namespaces, so things like <sheet become <x:sheet
The main structural difference: it supplies named columns rather than traditional A, B, AA, AB in this format
<row r="1"><c ... r="COLNAME1">
Besides, every xml based format will have < > & escaped and should unescape them on reading
Find attached a source diff and an example file
Best regards
Wolfgang Hamann
