Subject: surprising installation path
Date: Sun, 10 Sep 2017 23:33:25 +0200
To: bug-Scalar-List-Utils [...] rt.cpan.org
From: Thomas Klausner <tk [...] giga.or.at>
The package is called Scalar-List-Utils, but it installs into List/Util/ It'd probably be better if the two names match up, like for most other perl packages. Thomas
It installs into List/Util.pm, Scalar/Util.pm, and Sub/Util.pm. Just changing the name of the dist wouldn't improve the situation any. Splitting the dist would also lead to tons of problems. This dist has a long history, and many people expect it to have the current name. Also just on a technical level, splitting this dist would be challenging due to how it is structured internally.

I was mostly talking about the .packlist file, which is installed in auto/List/Utils/.packlist. But since there is no actual Scalar/List/Util and for your other reasons, it's ok with me to just close this bug report. Thanks, Thomas
