As an idea for a feature, Regexp::Common::comment could include the
syntax of Pari/GP (http://pari.math.u-bordeaux.fr).
It has two forms, \\ to newline and C-like /* to */ (no nesting).
I get some joy from the diff below.
The scary multiple backslashing is like the entry for ABC and Forth.
Message body is not shown because sender requested not to inline it.
