Bug? Quirk? Feature? At this point, I don't know.
I was attempting to set up a triangle around England and Wales, two
points in the south (one SW of Cornwall and the other near the France
Belgium border) and one point in the north. Most of the points in
England (or Wales) I was looking at, come up as Zone 30U. Some points
in the east of England (Norwich, Ipswich) come up as 31U. And you can
force the zone to 30, which makes things behave (for my purpose).
But, having this point to the north has been interesting. If I put it
at 55.99N and 1W, things are fine (except it is too close, and a fair
amount of England and Wales starts to lie outside of the triangle). If
I put it at 56N (or 57N), that particular point gets reported as 30V.
There seems to be no way to force it to 30U.
I haven't had the time to look at the code to see what is going on, but
I thought it was interesting and possibly people might like to know
about these latitude borders (at multiples of 8 degrees from the
equator).
