Subject: Perl 5.8 support?
Date: Mon, 23 Jan 2017 15:36:22 -0700

From: Warren Young <warren [...] etr-usa.com>
Hi, The top-level pages for this module [1][2] claim that this module still supports Perl 5.8, but the current version (1.75) contains a “use 5.010” at the top of Format.pm. Perl 5.8 shipped with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, which will still be in support for another few months, which means there are still production systems using it. And, there will be systems still running 5.8 for quite some time after that. If we can’t get 5.8 compatibility back, I’d like you to at least update your pages to declare the new restriction. For what it’s worth, I’m using Number::Format only indirectly, via Statistics::Basic. [1]: http://search.cpan.org/~wrw/Number-Format-1.75/Format.pm [2]: https://github.com/billward/number-format-perl
