I've downloaded the Strawberry Perl 5.24.0.1 64 bit MSI file, invoked it, changed the install location to "C:\Progs\StrawberryPerl\", and it failed. From the Internet I gathered that such problems had been reported as early as 2013, but the case has been closed by now. You may or may not want to examine this issue further. I don't, as I have gone for an alternative Perl incarnation instead.

What MS Windows version are you using? Could you please try to run the installation via this command: c:\anydir> msiexec /l*vx install.log /i strawberry-perl-5.24.0.1-64bit.msi and send me back install.log

Sorry, but I have no time for this. As I said, I've already moved on to a different Perl incarnation.

On my Windows 10 Pro / 1607 strawberry-perl-5.24.0.1-64bit.msi installs fine into "C:\Progs\StrawberryPerl\"

I am afraid I am not able to help you without additional info.
