The latest release has the dist using version 2.49.1, with the module as 2.49. While I know the 2.49.1 release was only to fix the Makefile.PL and didn't modify the module itself, I think this is unnecessarily confusing. Adding to this is that three part and two part versions are handled differently by perl. 2.49.1 would be handled as the number 2.049001, so it would be less than 2.49. The dist version isn't actually used by anything, so this doesn't currently lead to any problems.
I would encourage you to stick with numeric versions going forward, rather than using dotted-decimal versions. And to keep the module versions and the dist version synchronized.
