Linking both Curses perl binding against ncurses 5.4 (with patches). On Solaris 5.9 can display asian wide characters no problem. On Solaris 5.8, wide characters are not displayed at all (no garbage or anything, just not displayed). Easiest way to test this was by replace line 34 in demo with:
addstr($b, 2, 2, "荷兰语");
perl 5.8.0 was used.
