version: HTML-Parser-3.45 perl: v5.8.1-RC3 os: Darwin Kernel Version 7.7.0 (OS X 10.3.7) the xml sample listed in merlyn's column [1] no longer works. without xml_mode set, it parses fine and seems to understand the xml constructs. set case_sensitive on and it works as it used to for this sample. The file in his column is not XML, bad XML declaration and non-quoted attributes. Removing the <?xml ...> declaration or terminate it properly with "?>" to make things work.
