$ git config --global color.ui always With this setting, I get the attached test results. $ git config --global color.ui never $ git config --global color.ui never With this setting the distribution installs successfully.

OK, this is similar to this other issue in Git-Repository-Plugin-Log: https://rt.cpan.org/Ticket/Display.html?id=110098 So similar, that I was in fact suggesting you upgrade, before realizing it's a different distribution. :-) I'll adapt the patch for Git-Repository-Plugin-AUTOLOAD.
