Subject: t/01-new.t should not fail if search.cpan.org is not available
Sometimes the test suite fails, see http://matrix.cpantesters.org/?dist=HTML-Xit%200.05 In most (all?) cases the problem is caused by failing to fetch successfully from search.cpan.org, probably because the site was down or because of other network problems. I think it would be best that such a condition is detected in the test and the following test cases are simply skipped, to avoid unnecessary test failures.

In the meantime, search.cpan.org was replaced by metacpan.org completely and the test fails always.
