Subject: | Suggestion: smoothing of the estimated time |
How about changing the way the remaining time estimate works:
If the new estimate is greater than the old estimate, but within 10% (say), then use the previous estimate.
This would reduce 'flicker', and give the sense of a smoothly dropping time left. But if the initial calculation was way off, then it would still correct the ETA, because there difference would be more than 10%.
It's slightly disconcerting when the time is flicking up and down, even though the difference is really not that big.
If you like the idea, but don't have time to do this, I'll have a go at doing it.
Cheers,
Neil
